Glass Skin Series Part 4: Role of Lasers

Achieving flawless, radiant skin is a journey, and in this fourth installment of our Glass Skin series, we explore the transformative role of lasers. With over 15 years of expertise in dermatology, our clinic brings advanced laser technologies to help you achieve the coveted glass skin look.

What is Glass Skin? Glass skin emphasizes two primary components:

  1. Even Skin Tone
  2. Smooth Skin Texture

Lasers are an innovative tool that address both these components effectively, providing results that are safe, precise, and tailored to individual needs.

For Even Skin Tone: We use pigment lasers to target uneven pigmentation. The most effective laser for this purpose is the Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser, which works by breaking down pigment deposits inside the skin without affecting its upper layers. This ensures:

  • No recovery period
  • Safety for sensitive skin

For Smooth Skin Texture: Improving skin texture requires stimulating collagen production in the dermis (the deeper layer of the skin). This can be achieved using two types of lasers:

  1. Ablative Lasers

    • Work by disrupting the epidermis (outer skin layer) and stimulating collagen repair.
    • A mild burn is produced, which heals within 1-4 weeks.
    • CO2 Laser is the most commonly used ablative laser, known for its effectiveness but requiring downtime.
  2. Non-Ablative Lasers

    • Heat the collagen in the dermis to stimulate production without disrupting the epidermis.
    • Require multiple sessions to achieve desired results.
    • Offer minimal downtime and lower risks of complications.

Ablative vs. Non-Ablative Lasers:

  • Ablative lasers are more effective, requiring fewer sessions but have a higher risk of downtime and pigmentary alterations.
  • Non-ablative lasers are gentler, making them suitable for those with busy schedules or concerns about post-procedure recovery.

Our Advanced Technology: At our clinic, we use the Spectra XT Laser Platform, a versatile system designed to address both components of glass skin:

  • Evens out skin tone by targeting pigmentation with precision.
  • Enhances skin texture by stimulating collagen production safely and effectively.
